Profile: 

Born in Wooster and raised in Apple Creek, Ohio, Jeff graduated from Waynedale High School before attending the College of Wooster, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989. He also spent a year abroad studying at Glasgow University in Scotland.  After receiving his undergraduate degree, Jeff obtained a master’s degree in political science from The Ohio State University, and earned his Juris Doctorate law degree from the University of Akron School of Law (cum laude, 1997). While obtaining his master’s degree, Jeff was employed by the Supreme Court of Ohio both in the Fiscal Office and the Continuing Legal Education Office.

Desiring to stay in the Wooster community, Jeff joined Taggart Law Firm in 1997, with his practice areas now emphasizing estate planning, wills and probate, senior citizen issues and business planning.

Jeff is actively involved in the local community. Jeff has served as a trustee, vice president, and president of the Wayne County Historical Society.  In 2008, he received the George Schwartz Achievement Award from the Wayne County Historical Society. That same year Jeff was also appointed by the mayor of Wooster to serve as Co-Chairman of Wooster’s Bicentennial Committee for which service he received a key to the city.  In 2012, he received the Alvin Rich Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wayne County Historical Society, that organization's highest honor. He frequently speaks to numerous schools and organizations on local history.  He also organized the annual "Ed Arn Veterans' Roundtable" event at the Wayne County Historical Society, of which he is very proud.  

Jeff is passionate about working with the community’s youth. Jeff was previously president, and a trustee, of the Boys & Girls Club of Wooster, which he enthusiastically supports.  He also previously served several years as Board President at Wee Care, a non-profit day care center. For his service, he received the “Friend of Young Children” award from the Wayne Association for the Education of Young Children (W.A.E.Y.C.). Jeff has coached numerous youth athletic teams, and previously established the Wooster Youth Flag Football Association. He is presently a member of the Wooster Rotary Club, Wooster Elks Lodge, and the Wayne County Historical Society.
